Handcrafted Walnut Sourdough Starter Spatula – One of a Kind, 11.5"

This one-of-a-kind walnut spatula was handcrafted from a branch of a nearly 100-year-old walnut tree growing on our son’s homestead.

When he first moved onto the property, the old tree needed heavy trimming and cleanup. Instead of letting those beautiful walnut branches go to waste, the wood was saved and given a new purpose. What began as part of a tree that had stood for generations has now been shaped by hand into a useful kitchen tool with a story all its own.

Measuring approximately 11.5 inches long, this spatula is especially well suited for stirring sourdough starter. Its slim shape fits easily into starter jars, reaches into the bottom corners, and helps mix flour and water thoroughly without the bulk of a traditional spoon. The flat edge is also useful for breaking up dry pockets and scraping starter from the sides of the jar as you stir.

It can also be used for mixing small batches of batter, stirring sauces and dressings, or working inside jars and narrow containers.

Walnut is known for its rich, dark coloring and beautiful grain, and this piece has been finished naturally so the character of the wood remains the focus. Because each spatula is shaped from an individual branch, every piece is completely unique.
