Hand-Carved Lilac Wood Sourdough Spatula
Hand-Carved Lilac Wood Sourdough Spatula
This one is especially meaningful to me.
Hand carved from lilac wood, this spatula was crafted from a branch that came from a cherished old lilac growing at my parents' home. Planted decades ago, the lilac had been part of our family's landscape since 1969. In 2026, after some of its larger branches were carefully pruned, I was able to transform a small piece of that history into something that can be used and appreciated every day.
Measuring approximately 14 inches long, this spatula features a gentle curve in the handle for a comfortable grip. It's perfect for stirring soups, sauces, jams, and everyday cooking, but it is especially well suited for mixing and feeding sourdough starter.
Each spatula is carefully hand carved, shaped, and sanded by me, allowing the natural beauty and character of the lilac wood to shine through. No two pieces are ever alike, making each one a truly unique kitchen heirloom.
While most of my wooden kitchen tools are crafted from the organically grown fruit and nut trees on our homestead, this piece comes from a place that helped shape my love of gardening and growing. It carries a small piece of my family's history, and I'm honored to give it new life in a kitchen where it can continue to be part of someone's story.
