Handwoven Farm Fiber Wall Tapestry

This one-of-a-kind wall tapestry was woven by hand here on our farm using a richly textured blend of sheep’s wool, angora, alpaca, and handspun yarn.

Deep reds, burgundy, soft green, golden yellow, rusty orange, warm brown, cream, and natural gray are layered together in thick loops, curls, locks, and loose strands. The irregular shapes and varying textures give the piece wonderful depth and movement, with every section offering something new to see.

The lower portion finishes with a free-flowing fringe of wool and yarn, adding to its soft, organic character. Rather than following a formal pattern, the tapestry was created intuitively, allowing the natural texture and beauty of each fiber to guide the design.

It hangs from a piece of weathered driftwood gathered on the Oregon coast during a family trip. From dyeing and spinning the fiber to weaving and finishing the piece, so much of it has been created and handled by us here on the farm.

It is a truly original work of fiber art made for someone who appreciates natural materials, rich texture, and the beauty of things created slowly by hand.
